Overview

Chroma is a new video game developed by the renowned studio Chronosphere. This open-world action RPG is set in a dystopian world where players can explore diverse cities across unique realms and unravel the mysteries of the new world order. Inspired by the game’s vast and immersive world, I designed a microsite to support its launch. The microsite captures the game’s tone and highlights key features, offering players an engaging preview of the adventure awaiting them.

The Challenge

Creating the microsite was my first experience building a website from scratch using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, which presented a steep learning curve. Balancing aesthetics with functionality was especially challenging, as I had to ensure the site was visually engaging while maintaining responsiveness, fast load times, and smooth navigation across devices—all while learning the technical skills needed for implementation.

The Solution

To overcome these challenges, I relied on online tutorials, forums, and documentation to learn the fundamentals of web development and troubleshoot issues along the way. I focused on building the site in stages, starting with a basic structure and gradually adding more advanced features. For aesthetics and functionality, I prioritized responsive design by testing layouts on multiple devices and optimized images and code to ensure fast load times. Iterative testing allowed me to refine the user experience while keeping the design aligned with the game’s theme.
