Overview
Inspired by the world of Zenless Zone Zero, I designed a series of original concepts to enhance its futuristic urban setting and narrative depth. These included a flying scout vehicle for resource and enemy scanning, a land vehicle for navigating and entering the mysterious Hollows, an Ether bomb crafted from in-game resources, and a futuristic coast guard ship designed to patrol the waterways of this dystopian world. Each design prioritized functionality, practicality, and innovation while staying true to the sleek and high-tech aesthetic of the game. These vehicles and props were intended to integrate seamlessly into the game’s universe, providing both narrative and gameplay utility.

The Challenge
Designing the flying scout and land vehicle required balancing futuristic aesthetics with practical gameplay functions. The flying scout needed to feel lightweight and agile for scanning enemies and resources, while the land vehicle had to reflect durability and versatility for navigating dangerous Hollow environments. Limited references due to the game’s unreleased status made it difficult to ensure the designs aligned with the world’s lore and visual style.
The Solution
To address these challenges, I researched real-world drones and rugged off-road vehicles to inspire the designs. The flying scout was refined to emphasize agility and functionality, while the land vehicle incorporated elements of resilience and adaptability for Hollow exploration. Using an iterative design process, I balanced practicality with Zenless Zone Zero’s high-tech aesthetic, ensuring the vehicles fit seamlessly into both the gameplay and narrative.
